- Take out Travel insurance including medical insurance.
- Take a photocopy of your passport and tickets.
- Check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel Advice.
- Bring enough money.
- Keep belongings in a safe place.
- Enter next of kin details into the back of your passport.
- Beware of pickpockets, do not leave bags or luggage unguarded
especially on public buses and bus stations.
- Take medical advice on avoiding malaria if contemplating travel in
rainforests or jungle areas.
- Be aware of the rip tides on all beaches in Costa Rica.
- If white water rafting, choose a reliable company.
- Do not deal in or carry drugs, penalties can be severe.
- Do not go into jungle areas or rainforests without an experienced
guide.
- Do not walk alone on deserted beaches.
