- Before travelling check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel
Advice.
- Ensure that you at least have a signed and stamped E111 form to enable
you to receive emergency medical treatment. A comprehensive insurance is
always advisable.
- Plan your visit well and ensure that you have enough money for your
entire stay. Keep your belongings in a safe place and take the normal,
sensible, precautions.
- Leave a copy of your passport and itinerary with a contact in the UK,
or in a safe place in your hotel.
- Enter next of kin details into the back of your passport.
- When you drive, remember that there are different speed restrictions
to the UK. 'On the spot fines' are common.
- When driving, be aware that it easy to cross into neighbouring
countries without realising it. You must have your passport with you for
identification.
- Some basic knowledge of French or German would be useful as many
people do not speak any English outside of the capital. If you have no
French or German you may find a basic phrase book useful.
- If visiting by air, please observe the rules governing the quantity of
tobacco and alcohol you can bring to Luxembourg.
- Do not carry drugs, penalties can be severe.
- Do not keep items on display in your car when left unattended.
